Tulsa Metro Carpet Restretching Since 2006
Tulsa Steam Team handles carpet stretching service in Oklahoma for carpet that has gone loose, wavy or buckled. Our carpet restretching pulls the carpet tight from wall to wall and locks it back in place, removing trip hazards and stopping ridges from wearing into the fibers. It costs far less than replacing the carpet, and the quote is free.

The Cause
Carpet is meant to be held under tension, hooked onto tack strips that run around the edge of the room. When that tension slips, the extra material has nowhere to go but up, and it rises into soft waves or hard ridges. Pushing a ripple flat by hand only moves it somewhere else. Proper carpet wrinkle removal involves stretching the carpet to the walls and securing it back in place.
Carpet set with only a knee kicker, without a power stretcher, often relaxes within a few years of installation.
Sliding a sofa, piano or bookshelf shifts the carpet and pulls it off the strips at the edges.
Carpet backing can loosen as moisture levels rise and fall through the seasons, letting slack build up.
Padding that is too thick, too soft or breaking down lets the carpet flex more than it should.
Signs It Is Time
Loose carpet rarely fixes itself. These three warning signs mean it is ready to be restretched.
Low light across the floor shows rolling lines or bubbles, often in larger rooms and along traffic paths.
Raised folds that snag toes, door bottoms, vacuum heads or chair wheels are a fall risk, especially for kids and older family members.
Carpet that pulls up near baseboards, doorways or vents has usually come off the tack strip and lost its tension.
Step by Step
A quick, tidy process designed to get your room flat and usable again.
We look at the ripples, the edges and the pad to work out why the carpet loosened, so the fix holds instead of just hiding the problem for a few months.
Using a power stretcher, we pull the slack across the room and re-hook the carpet firmly onto the tack strips, working carefully so the pad underneath is not disturbed.
The carpet is tucked neatly at the walls and doorways, and we walk the room with you to make sure every ripple is gone.
Experience Matters
Stretching looks simple until it is done badly. Pull too hard and seams split; pull too little and the waves return. Tulsa Steam Team has been handling carpet for Tulsa-area property owners since 2006, and that experience shows in the details.
Most jobs are handled by Travis Bond, who customers describe in reviews as efficient, friendly and careful. We are based in Bixby, which keeps response times short across the south Tulsa metro.

FAQ's
National cost guides put carpet stretching at about $100 to $300 for most jobs, with many companies charging around $100 for the first room and roughly $40 to $80 for each additional room. Berber can cost more because it is harder to stretch. We give you a free quote after seeing the carpet.
In most cases, yes. If the carpet itself is in decent shape and only the tension has failed, restretching removes the wrinkles and gives it more years of use. If the carpet is torn, badly worn or the pad has collapsed, we will tell you honestly before doing any work.
The most common causes are an installation done without a power stretcher, heavy furniture being dragged across the floor, seasonal humidity changes and padding that is too thick or worn out. Each one lets slack build up until the carpet lifts into ripples.
When the carpet is stretched properly with a power stretcher, it should stay flat far longer than it did after a loose installation. Heavy furniture being dragged or a failing pad can still loosen carpet over time, so we point out any of those risks during the visit.
Yes. Ridges and bubbles catch toes, walkers, wheelchair wheels and office chairs, and they are a common trip point in hallways and doorways. Stretching removes the hazard and also stops the folds from wearing down faster than the rest of the carpet.
